Alex (she/her) is a London-based multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and composer whose work navigates the tension between human experience and an increasingly mediated world. Working across film, sound, and image-making, she approaches storytelling as a space for experimentation - where design becomes both a method and a catalyst for shifting perception and behaviour.
Her practice is driven by an interest in how we construct meaning: through images, through technology, and through the narratives we inherit and perform. Often blending the absurd with the intimate, her visual language is playful yet disquieting, grounded in a distinctly human sensibility. She explores themes of illusion and reality, the performed self versus self-awareness, and what it means to feel human in a technologically dense environment where constant connection reshapes attention, memory, and emotion.
Alex’s background in Social and Cultural Anthropology (BA, Durham University) informs her approach to filmmaking. Her research examined the growing integration of anthropological methods within advertising, emphasising the role of context in shaping value and interpretation - an influence that continues to underpin her work.
Through experimental storytelling, she interrogates cultural memory, material reality, and the evolving ways we produce, receive, and absorb information. Her films often sit between disciplines, inviting audiences to question not only what they see, but how and why they see it.
