WHERE YOU AT ?
WYA Full Re-Brand
Client Brief
WYA is an app that offers a 'Find my Friends' service to users in clubs and festivals. Guests can see themselves and their friends on a map, send pings to their friend network when they’re lost or need help, view venue facilities such as bars and bathrooms, and also check info such as set-lists - all in the app. The product focuses on safety, but also reflects the joy and positivity of connecting with friends and communities at live a event.
Objective
The start-up (aimed at 18-30 year olds) has now matured and needs a more dynamic, youthful and trustworthy identity that reflects its ambition of increasing adoption and engagement of its target audience.
Concept: Futuristic. Friendly. Maze.
The app utilises unique location tech that sketches the venue's layout via a digital blueprint. The logo mark echos this trail to help friends re-unite through the visual rhetoric of mazes and video games. The tone is fun but equally has a feeling of reliability, safety and security (further reflected in typography pairing).
The dual strap lines are playful. Inviting users to attend large events, have fun without worrying about losing their friends and getting lost. 'Don't Get Lost in the Crowd' 'Get Lost in the Crowd' encourages the app's audience to lose themselves in the experience without fear of truly getting lost
The logo aims to highlight the safety aspect of the app as an act of empowerment to have fun without the anxiety. Bold, fun, engaging, friendly. Stepping away from the clinical design of the tech industry by exploring a more joyful and human approach.
Whilst the app is gender neutral the branding and colour palette pays special attention to women (where safety as the research shows plays a bigger concern) whilst ensuring not to isolate men.
Supply Mono Regular font for a calm, reliable, clear interface that alludes to the sleek feel and tech of the app.
Exploring extended ideas for art direction: A series of AI photographs used have been generated through Midjourney - art direction draws upon light, shadows and the silhouettes of people in amongst the crowd and atmosphere.
OLD WORKINGS - other routes and ideas
